When you’re struggling and looking for help it can be hard to pick a therapist or a type of therapy. There are so many people out there and so many types of therapy being offered.
You can be assured that when you work with me you are getting the benefit of my 15 plus years of professional education and experience. I am a registered mental health nurse, a fully accredited cognitive behavioural psychotherapist, I have a masters degree in psychological trauma, am an accredited clinical hypnotherapist and a registered rapid transformational therapy practitioner. I also have experience in neurolinguistic programming, coaching and mindfulness.
Never be afraid to ask a therapist or coach about their professional experience and always ensure that they are accredited and registered with a professional body. Do some research on their qualifications and satisfy yourself that they have the experience to help with your specific issue.
I have a wide range of experience and am qualified in a number of therapies. My approach is solution focused which means that we focus on your goals and creating realistic and practical solutions to problems. I believe in creating actionable strategies and clear plans to move forward. This also means that you will need to be motivated and committed to making changes. You will need to be able to set aside time each day for an activity aimed at improving your wellbeing. This might be: Reading, journalling, mindfulness, relaxation, breathing techniques, thought experiments (not as scary as they sound), listening to audios or even doing something that pushes you out of your comfort zone. When you work with me commitment to the process is vital. You will only get results if you put in the work.
What is the session for?
It’s important that you find the right therapy for you and that you connect with your therapist.
If your not sure what type of therapy you need, you want to discuss combining types if therapy or just want to see if we click then this session is ideal for you.
The session is a chance for us to discuss your issues, see if I can help and see if you think I am the right therapist for you.
No commitment no pressure just a chance to see if we can work together.
Most therapists usually offer a free 15 minute call. I, however have found that people usually need a little bit longer especially if we want to get a clear picture of what’s been going on and start to put some strategies in place. I know that when you first make contact you’ve been struggling for a while and don’t want to have to wait to get help. For this reason I usually set aside around 30-45 minutes for each call. This gives us plenty of time to discuss what has been happening for you and get started with an action plan.
